The cost of commissioning a decorative finish is dependent upon certain factors which affect the cost of a specific finish in a range of ways.

Decorative finishes are achieved in a process of layering. A simple finish could be achieved in one layer. A stunning finish may be achieved in four layers. Typically the more layers used the more depth, substance and character a finish will have. A simpler finish may seem more subtle but may be what the client is looking for.

The cost of the various products used and the labor involved are what dictate the price for a finish. The more labor intensive the process the more the value.

In general a simple glazed finish will start out around $4.00 a square foot. Textured finishes and plaster finishes start at around $6.00 a square foot. An exotic finish such as rendered marble or exotic wood finish start at around $15.00 square foot.

All work over 8 ft. in height will accrue an additional $.50 a square foot as it is more difficult and time consuming to work off of ladders and scaffolding.

Quantity discounts are available for projects over 1,000 sq. ft. (10% off) and also for 5,000 sq. ft. (15% off).
